Progress

Ok, work on the deck continues. We've mostly finished the raised seating area, finished the kitchen area and are now working on the area between the two breaker boards.

We're taking care to make sure no boards stick up to be tripped over. We're also taking care to make sure all the boards line up properly. So it's time-consuming, but will worth it when it's all done.

Speaking of all-done, not sure we're going to make our Dec 31 deadline anymore. This breaker board area is just taking so long to get right. . . .

Castleberry Hill Loft Tour

Whoa, three posts in one day. . .

Everyone should know about the Castleberry Hill Loft Tour this weekend. It's my neighborhood and it's a pretty cool event. You'll get to see at least eight lofts of different sizes and taste. There are generally scores of other lofts to see that are currently on the market as well.

Tickets are 12 junior cheeseburger deluxes in advance and 15 regular fries the day of the event. Tickets can be purchased online.

Sigh

Well, looks like my "Driving for Dummies" post hasn't spread to the masses yet. . .

First, someone stopped in the road at a green light this morning to look around. Later, someone decided that the right turn lane was not good enough for them so they decided to make the turn from the middle lane.

Of course I was in that particular right turn lane with my blinker on waiting for an old lady to cross the street. When I began to proceed, I was almost side-swiped by the dumbass turning illegally. I honked my horn loudly and continuously, but am not sure he heard it through the headphones he had on. . .

Homeless people are homeless for a reason

Ok, this is a pretty broad statement and I'm sure there are homeless people out there that are mentally ill and what-not. . .

I pull into a 'ghetto' gas station the other day because:
  1. It's on my way to the store

  2. It's a Texaco station

  3. I've lived downtown for a number of years now and am not afraid of local foot traffic

Being that I've lived downtown for a while, I can spot the people who are itching to ask me for money. I pull into this gas station and immediately spot a guy hanging out just outside the door with a can of soda and a bag of chips.

This ghetto gas station doesn't have a 'pay at the pump' and they certainly don't turn on the pump for just anyone, so I have to go into the store to get them to turn the pump on. I pass by the guy and he says "hello", or some form of English at least. I nod and continue into the store.

I return to my car and begin the process of pumping my gas. I can see the guy over there just looking around as I pump. I'm all finished, the tank is full so I begin to go back inside to pay. At this point, the guy perks up and asks if he can pump my gas for me. . . .

"Pump my gas? I'm finished."

First of all, I don't give money to homeless people, especially homeless people that are eating bags of chips and drinking sodas outside of a store where they clearly just purchased said items. Second, if you really want to make a nickel, ask me BEFORE I pump my gas, brainiac.
